Malorie Blackman was born on 8th February 1962 is a respected and award-winning British author who uses science fiction to explore social and ethical issues.
It may be hard to believe, but Malorie Blackman was once on the path to become a systems programmer. She left Thames Polytechnic and married her husband Neil in the 1980's and their daughter was later born in 1995.

Since Malorie's first book, Not So Stupid, published in November 1990, she has written more than 50 books ranging from picture books, children's books, novels, to young-adult novels.
Through these great books she has won many awards, many of which were for her most notable series, Noughts and Crosses. A story set in a world where Crosses dominate the Noughts displaying 21st century Britain but 'racism and prejudice are much overt.' The series tells the story of several characters from the two classes and their interaction with each other.
